As a public educational institution in the municipality of Köniz, the Schliern Blindenmoos School attaches great importance to reliable, easy-to-use, and sustainable media technology that is suitable for both everyday school operations and professionally staged events.
As part of a comprehensive lifecycle update, Kilchenmann AG was commissioned to completely renovate the media technology in the auditorium of the Schliern Blindenmoos school and adapt it to today's technical requirements. The auditorium, with its many metal and glass elements, offers a high degree of flexibility thanks to its variable seating and infrastructure – from school events and information evenings to public functions. The existing sound, video, and lighting systems no longer met current standards and had to be replaced. The auditorium is a public educational facility belonging to the municipality of Köniz.
Initial situation/requirements
The aim was to fundamentally modernize the outdated technology, significantly simplify operation for school staff and external users, and at the same time enable future-proof, versatile use for internal school events such as concerts, theater performances, or information evenings, as well as for public events. The aim was to provide optimal support for both day-to-day school operations with clearly structured, intuitive processes and more technically demanding events with professional requirements in terms of sound, lighting, and image.
Technical implementation
As part of the modernization, the sound system was completely renewed: front speakers and subwoofers were installed, while two stage monitors on the stage ensure clear sound quality. An event mixing console with stage box allows for flexible use during events, while a touch panel controls everyday school life in "normal mode." HDMI video connections for laptop presentations and a Bluetooth audio input have been integrated to enable easy connection of external sources.
The lighting has been connected to the existing building automation system via a lighting console, allowing both the lighting mood and the dimming to be controlled centrally. In addition, event lighting with various types of spotlights ensures professional staging of events. Wireless microphones for speakers round off the modern equipment and guarantee clear voice transmission.
In 2025, Kilchenmann AG was also commissioned by the municipality of Köniz to renew the video and lighting technology in the auditorium of the Liebefeld Hessgut school and bring it up to the latest technical standards.
Conclusion
Thanks to the lifecycle update, the auditorium at Schliern Blindenmoos School now has modern, flexible media technology that can be easily adapted to different event formats. The intuitive operation, high-quality audio and video technology, and flexibly controllable lighting create optimal conditions for both regular school life and professionally staged events.
