Stockhorn AG, Erlenbach

Kilchenmann realized what is probably the largest free-standing outdoor LED wall in the Bernese Oberland for the Stockhorn cable car in Erlenbach.

As simple as the first sentence sounds, the result is spectacular. The 3x5 meter (pixel pitch 6.6mm) digital wall will even be noticed by passing motorists!

This made-to-measure display stands in the middle of the Stockhornbahn parking lot and provides arriving guests with comprehensive information about special tickets and offers or advertises promotions and events.

For once, the challenges of the project were not so much the audio or video technology, but the location of the LED wall. The different weather conditions had to be taken into account so that it could perform its service reliably. The LED elements needed a weatherproof frame and the structural engineer was not allowed to make any mistakes when calculating the foundations and brackets, as the 15 m2 screen offers a lot of surface area for the wind to attack. A small detail with a big impact: the back of the screen was made light with untreated aluminum sheeting to prevent the sunlight from heating up the wall too much!

Of course, the content of the display can be controlled via the Stockhornbahn AG content management system or, to protect the surrounding residents from the brightness, switched off completely. To ensure that guests can read the content with ease, the design includes light sensors that adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the weather and time of day. This wall is an eye-catcher in the truest sense of the word!

Thanks to a user-friendly content management system, the Stockhornbahn can manage and display the content for the LED wall itself.
