For the Stockhornbahn in Erlenbach Kilchenmann was allowed to realize the probably largest free-standing outdoor LED wall in the Bernese Oberland.
As simple as the first sentence sounds, the result is spectacular. Even passing motorists should notice the 3x5 metre (pixel pitch 6.6mm) digital wall!
This custom-built display stands in the middle of the Stockhornbahn car park and provides arriving guests with comprehensive information about special tickets and offers or advertises promotions and events.
For once, the challenges of the project lay less in the audio or video technology, but in the location of the LED wall. In order for it to do its job reliably, the different weather conditions had to be taken into account. The LED elements needed a weatherproof frame and the structural engineer could not make any mistakes when calculating the foundation and mounting, because the 15 m2 screen offers a lot of surface for the wind to attack. A small detail with a big effect: the back was made light with untreated aluminium sheeting so that the sunlight would not heat the wall too much!
Of course, the contents of the display can be controlled via the content management system of the Stockhornbahn AG, or, to protect the surrounding residents from the brightness, can be switched off completely . To ensure that guests can read the content without effort, the design includes light sensors that adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the weather and time of day. This wall is an eye-catcher in the truest sense of the word!
Thanks to a user-friendly content management system, the Stockhorn cable car can manage and display the content for the LED wall itself.
