The "NZZ Connect" events offer independent, competent and reliable information on current topics from business, science and politics. As an important innovation community and dialog platform in Switzerland, they promote the exchange between business and science.
The Open-i event is a further development of the annual Swiss Innovation Forum (SIF), which was held in Basel until recently and has now been replaced. On November 21 and 22, over 1,000 participants and more than 70 speakers met at the Kongresshaus Zurich.
Initial situation/requirements:
Kilchenmann has been a reliable technical partner for various NZZ Connect events for many years. As the Kongresshaus Zurich already had extensive technical installations, we supplemented and optimized the existing technology with additional components to ensure a smooth and high-quality event.
Technical implementation:
For the Garden Stage, we installed a digital audio mixing console to control the sound reproduction and microphone mixing of all presentations. The moderators used in-ear monitoring as well as headset and wireless microphones. Three professional PTZ cameras transmitted the live image. We controlled these from the separate control room and also used them for switching to the Circle Stage. A large LED wall was provided and set up by the Kongresshaus.
For space reasons, we set up a remote video and PowerPoint control room to ensure the smooth running of presentations, video recordings and other visual content.
Interesting presentations also took place on the Circle Stage. There was also a PowerPoint control room here, which prepared presentations, set timers and coordinated background slides. The same components were available for moderation as on the Garden Stage. An additional camera documented the presentations and transmitted live feeds to the Garden Stage. The in-house softedge projection completed the visual setup.
For internal communication, we installed an intercom system that enabled efficient coordination between the control room teams. External speakers and moderation contributions from the exhibition were switched live to the stages via Zoom.
