To mark the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, Novartis hosted an exclusive side event for employees on its own campus - with overall technical implementation by Kilchenmann. The centerpiece was the ultra-modern Gehry Auditorium, which became the stage for top-class concerts and live broadcasts. With a great deal of expertise and around 15 tons of technology, an atmospheric event experience between festival flair and digital networking was created.
Novartis is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, using innovative science and technology to tackle some of society's most challenging health problems. Headquartered in Basel, the company employs around 11,300 people in Switzerland.
Initial situation/requirements:
The Kilchenmann team has been the technical contact for fixed installations and a specialist for event technology and personnel for many years. Kilchenmann assumes responsibility for the technical planning, coordination and implementation during each event.
Technical implementation:
As part of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, the Grand Final of which took place on 17 May in the St. Jakobshalle, co-sponsor Novartis took the opportunity to host a top-class side event for employees on campus. The event was implemented in close collaboration with Kilchenmann, using both existing infrastructure and additional mobile technology solutions.
A central element was the Gehry Auditorium, which offered the ideal basis for high-quality broadcasts and events thanks to its modern building technology. Kilchenmann also installed a stage construction with a front extension (total area: 12 x 5 meters). A complex expansion of the audio system with additional mixing consoles and a large number of radio channels ensured optimum sound quality and flexible application options. Additional roof, floor and stage lighting as well as live video and audio streams between the moderation teams and the auditorium enabled seamless communication with the audience - both on site and digitally.
A particular highlight were the concerts by Mika and Nemo, which were broadcast live from the auditorium to the outside event area and at the same time to the employees at home - an experience that made community tangible despite the physical distance.
Kilchenmann set up an outdoor stage (6 x 3 meters) with a platform solution on the square in front of the auditorium, which was used for open-air acts over the course of three days. The focus here was on the PA system in order to create a relaxed festival atmosphere and entertain the audience. In addition, a mobile 21 square meter LED wall was installed to broadcast the stage action from the auditorium in real time.
Entertainment was also provided during the breaks: a DJ provided musical accompaniment in the Cloud Restaurant. Kilchenmann took over the sound system and created a pleasant lounge atmosphere.
A total of 60 radio links were used. Around 15 tons of material were moved and over 50 people were deployed on site - a logistical masterpiece that combined technology and organization at the highest level.
