Consistent digitization - at the NZZ X.Days the topic was the program

The two-day "NZZ X.Days" conference is one of the most important and largest recurring events for CEOs and managers and takes place annually in Interlaken.

Everything was different this year due to Covid-19 - which also presented the Kilchenmann Event & Rental Service team with new challenges. Challenge accepted!

Digitalization has been on everyone's lips for years and was not only the topic of this year's NZZ X.Days, but also the program - in the truest sense of the word. The three-day event, one of the most important and largest recurring formats for CEOs and managers, was held in the form of a three-day online conference for the first time this year. The technical implementation was extremely important to ensure that participants not present on site could also enjoy the full conference experience in the digital format. Just the right thing for the Kilchenmann Event & Rental Service team.

The Kilchenmann team in top form

The 21-strong Kilchenmann team from Event & Rental Service gave their all to ensure that the hybrid event - a combination of a live format on site and an online conference - went off without a hitch. Project manager Martin Loosli explains the details: "The online conference consisted of a combination of live streams and pre-produced content that was fed into the online portal. Some speakers were on site, others were connected. Participants were also present, albeit in small numbers. The main challenge was therefore to produce and broadcast live in parallel - and at the same time feed in the pre-produced content at the right time or bring the speakers who were not present on board." This was solved with two control rooms and two teams, although there were times when one person had to take care of two things at the same time. "There were moments when I didn't know where I was for a moment," laughs the experienced project manager.

Flexibility is the top priority in the Corona year

"If the coronavirus year has taught us one thing, it's even more flexibility," says Martin Loosli. Kilchenmann first discussed a hybrid solution with the organizer in June, but the protection concepts were still a long way off and other circumstances were also not foreseeable. The final decision was then made at the beginning of August and the Kilchenmann team had just under three weeks to plan - and implement - the entire event. A masterstroke, especially in view of the fact that many Kilchenmann employees are still working from home.
