One of the best universities in the world, ETH Zurich, opened the new premises of the Research Center for Artificial Intelligence in the Andreasturm in Zurich in 2023. The aim of the research center is to pioneer trustworthy, widely accessible and inclusive AI systems for the benefit of society.

Initial situation/requirements:

Meeting rooms in 27 categories are designed to support personal exchanges between employees as well as interactive collaboration across locations. Kilchenmann assumed responsibility for the entire media technology planning and supported all stakeholders from the conceptual design to the final handover into operation. The programming services were also provided by Kilchenmann AG.

Technical concept:

When finding a solution, the main focus was on completely wireless presentation options for digital content. This was successfully implemented with the ETH-certified solution and also allows participation in web conferences in soft client-independent "bring your own device" mode.

The "very small" meeting rooms (capacity for 3 - 4 people) were each equipped with 43-inch displays, MeetUp conference cameras and table connection sockets. The "small" meeting rooms (capacity for 6 people) were equipped congruently, but supplemented with 55-inch displays and wireless presentation systems.

In the "medium" meeting rooms (capacity for 8 - 12 people), 65-inch displays, Rally cameras, conferencing soundbars, wireless presentation systems and table connection sockets were installed. The same applies to the "large" meeting rooms (capacity for 20 people), but here 86-inch displays and additional microphones were used.

If the partition walls between the three "large" meeting rooms are opened, an event room (capacity for 60 - 80 people) is created. The media control system is operated by the user via the touch panel. The room configuration is selected automatically based on sensor detection. As the orientation changes in the open version, an additional 98-inch display was installed. A rally camera, wireless microphones, ceiling loudspeakers, a wireless presentation system and table connection sockets are also available for events.

There are seven information displays in the foyers from the 14th to the 21st floor, which are used as digital signage systems for "ETH TV".
