Flexible collaboration solution for the FH Graubünden

With Kilchenmann, the UAS Graubünden implements a pragmatic, highly flexible and cost-effective collaboration solution for online, hybrid or on-demand teaching.

The UAS Graubünden, which emerged from the HTW Chur, is a regionally anchored university of applied sciences with its main location in Chur. Individual degree courses are also offered in Zurich, Bern and Rapperswil. With over 2,000 students, the school offers Bachelor's, Master's and continuing education courses and conducts applied research and services. It also aims to give top athletes the opportunity to complete their studies in combination with their sports career.

Think big, start small
In order to meet new requirements and, in particular, to implement the new teaching model in the Sport Management degree program, two classrooms were equipped with video conferencing technology in an initial phase. Two years later, the solution was implemented in the large auditorium and the meeting room so that more events can now be broadcast online. In spring/summer 2020, all 60 classrooms were equipped with a simple video conferencing solution due to coronavirus-related hybrid teaching. With the continuous development and introduction of a cloud/collaboration flex plan, the possibility of recording sessions and offering courses on-demand - integrated into the "Moodle" course management and learning platform - was finally opened up. Thanks to the "Webex Education License", storage space above the 50GB normally integrated into the license is offered free of charge.

And today?
As of today, in April 2021, 2,500 - 3,500 training sessions and meetings per week are held via the cloud service and a large proportion are recorded. The great advantage of the Flex Plan is that with an unlimited number of licenses for students, lessons can be offered not only online or hybrid, but also individually and at a time of your choice, which in turn is a huge advantage for top athletes.

With this collaboration solution, it was possible to implement not only a pragmatic, but above all a cost-effective solution with an excellent cost-benefit ratio for the education sector. Kilchenmann supported the Graubünden University of Applied Sciences in both the planning and implementation phases and continues to support the customer with comprehensive services.
