Solid training starts when you start your job

Training is a top priority right from the start of an employment relationship. All new employees undergo an induction program during which they get to know all departments and services. In addition, an internal training programme specifically tailored to the function and degree of specialization is carried out in accordance with Kilchenmann standards. This applies to technicians and project managers, for example, while software engineers undergo some external training at the software suppliers.

Another measure to be highlighted as part of technician training is the targeted sensitization to safety and emergency issues. Based on the SUVA checklists, which are integrated into the internal process landscape, these aspects are in turn addressed in team meetings. External training is provided for specific areas of activity, such as handling aerial work platforms or working on tracks.

In the initial phase, all employees are closely supported by their direct line manager and, if necessary, by a "godparent". However, individual support does not stop after the probationary period.

 

How are employees supported individually?

Personal training is regularly reviewed and discussed as part of employee appraisals. Employees can express their wishes in this regard. Development plans are drawn up for talented employees together with their line managers to prepare them for a management and/or specialist function. As part of the company's development, the focus is also placed on leadership skills at regular intervals with the help of an external coach.

Employees have the opportunity to develop their skills in a new specialist area. From classic presentation technology to digital signage and customer flow management through to collaboration: cross-thematic projects that require a broad range of expertise offer scope for personal development. By working closely with other internal professionals, employees benefit from each other's expertise.

Employees gain additional expertise from their experience in complex projects that are unique in Switzerland. These include, for example, solutions in the high-security sector at armasuisse or at the emergency services (including the Bern police force).

 

What training and further education do Kilchenmann employees benefit from?

The importance of employee development is particularly evident in the wide range of training and further education courses on offer, even at apprentice level. Kilchenmann has set itself the goal of giving young people a successful future and trains apprentices in five professions (commercial clerk, IT specialist, event specialist, multimedia electronics technician and logistics specialist). The company is proud to offer so many apprenticeships, because creating apprenticeships also means assuming social responsibility.

Employees are generally supported in their development. External measures include language courses or vocational training of all kinds at various diploma levels. Product training courses are also held to provide information on innovations, technologies and trends. These take place either at manufacturers' premises abroad or in-house as part of so-called "deep-dive sessions". The training courses are usually certified with an industry-recognized diploma. Visits to Swiss and international trade fairs (e.g. Integrated Systems Europe, Amsterdam or InfoCom, Las Vegas) and various seminars and workshops are also an important part of the support program.

 

Which specialists are employed by Kilchenmann?

Relevant expertise is essential in the industry. This is the only way to meet complex and individual customer expectations. Kilchenmann therefore relies on specialists across the entire range of media and communication technology with corresponding IT expertise.

In the field of acoustics, Kilchenmann is one of the pro audito-certified providers for deaf loops. For church sound reinforcement (for example in Bern Minster), the company builds on years of experience in collaboration with acousticians. Kilchenmann also offers professionals for hotel TV installations (IP-TV) and is also a Swiss leader in the programming of media control systems via AMX, Crestron and Extron. The same applies to the area of "A/V over IP" technology.

Experts are also needed for pyrotechnics, which have become an integral part of events such as wedding celebrations or SCB matches (think of the players' run-in procedure). Since 2014, permits for setting off fireworks have been severely restricted. However, Kilchenmann specialists have the relevant expertise thanks to specific training for indoor and outdoor fireworks.
