Light with impact for the Empa Academy
At the Center for Research and Knowledge Transfer, lighting now also sets the right tone: a modernized, versatile lighting system has enhanced the rooms of the Empa Academy both technically and atmospherically. The new solution combines functionality with elegant design—tailored to a wide variety of event formats.
The event was not only a thank you to the employees, but also marked a significant milestone: Brack has been the title sponsor of the Super League - now Brack Super League - since the 2025/26 season. The choice of location could hardly have been more fitting.
Empa is the interdisciplinary research institute of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology (ETH) for materials science and technology. The academy serves as a platform for knowledge transfer and builds bridges between science, industry, and the general public.
The academy plenary hall can accommodate 256 people and can be divided into two smaller, independent rooms: Academy I and II. These are used for conferences, courses, seminars, presentations, events, and internal staff information. We now had the opportunity to take over the lighting design for the hall lighting in the Academy I and II rooms. Area, basic, and ambient lighting were integrated into the existing AMX control system.
Prolicht recessed spotlights with 4000 Kelvin and tunable white technology were used for the lighting. In addition, RGB-W LED strips replaced the existing fluorescent lights on the ceiling sides to create a stylish ambience. The lighting is characterized by a color rendering index (CRI) of at least 90, as well as homogeneous uniformity and standard-compliant horizontal illuminance. The individual luminaire groups are DALI dimmable.
The new lighting concept was implemented in the summer of 2024 by a local electrician.
We were responsible for consulting, design, and planning for this permanent installation, thereby making a significant contribution to the technological upgrading of the Empa Academy.
