APG|SGA, Allgemeine Plakatgesellschaft AG - ePanels Escalator, Zurich

Written by Kilchenmann | 27 February 2019

APG|SGA, Allgemeine Plakatgesellschaft AG, drew inspiration for the "Escalator" project from installations in international airports, such as in Tokyo or London, and in large international railway stations, such as Paris and Vienna.

The ideas for an implementation in Switzerland were deepened at a workshop. About a year later, Kilchenmann visited various installations within Europe on behalf of the client and delved into the technologies already in use. Almost two years later, the decision was made to develop and produce a prototype.

Kilchenmann developed its own state-of-the-art solution in collaboration with APG. Shortly afterwards, this was implemented on five different escalators in Zurich main station with a total of 64 screens. The 32" displays used are all mounted behind a glass pane and are in operation 20 hours a day. The advertising messages can be animated and played back in such a way that they move from screen to screen in sync with the speed of the escalator.

The Kilchenmann team is also responsible for service and maintenance.
